Just in time for New Years, here is an inspiring story of someone who worked fro the befit of others. Our founder, Geeta, just sent this to me. Her sister was a journalist and had the foresight to ask their grandfather to write his life story. See below photos for summary.

As a young man, his father was tricked into indentured labor in Fiji. As an adult he began working to improve the conditions of Indians living there. Because of this work, he lost every job he held, his property was seized, and he was eventually forced to return to India.
While in India, he spent time involved in the Indian Independence movement and met Gandhiji. He later traveled to London and was even invited to tea with the Queen. Eventually, he returned to Fiji and was able to see that conditions had improved somewhat.
What an incredible story to read.
Please ask your family members about their lives. You don’t have to be a journalist to do this, you just need curiosity and a way to document and preserve the stories you uncover. They may never have been revolutionaries or activists, and they may never have met the Queen, but they are your family, and their lives are equally worth knowing.
